- Big Gay Meme
Via paranoid.android.
1. At what age did you realize you were gay? 18. I was a sloooww learner. Had crushes on girls forever tho.
2. What did you do when you first came to this realization? First I denied it. Then I hid it. Then I said to hell with it and I've been out ever since.
3. Who was the first person you told? my sister, then Aimee
4. How did they react? My sister said "duh" and Aimee said "so?" I'm a lucky gal.
5. Did you go through a period of time thinking that you were bisexual? Nope.
6. Did you ever date/get intimate with someone of the opposite sex? I dated a few guys. Slept with one of them. Couldn't figure out what the big deal was about sex, lol.
7. Now that you define yourself as gay, would you date someone who is bisexual? I won't completely rule it out, but she would have to be really really impressive.
8. Would you ever date a drag king? Sure.
9. Would you date someone who was HIV positive? I'd like to say yes, but in reality I probably wouldn't. I'm too old to not see how much pain that would bring.
10. Have you ever seen Cher in concert? Yep. And Cyndi Lauper opened for her and sang True Colors with a rainbow flag wrapped around her and I cried like a baby.
11. If there was a pill that could make you straight, would you take it? Why or why not? Hell no. I like being queer. If you had asked me 13 years ago, you may have gotten a different answer tho.
12. Is assuming that *most* gay men are whores and/or drug addicts a fair assumption to make or an unnecessary form of stereotyping? Some men are sluts. Some women are sluts. Gay or straight. Same with drugs.
13. Is Tom Cruise "one of you"? Who cares?
14. Do you use the words "fag" and "dyke" but then get upset when someone straight uses them? I use the word dyke all the time with friends. I rarely use the word fag tho. And there's no reason for straight people to use either term unless they're being assholes.
15. Are you sure it isn't just a phase, like Anne Heche? I'm 32. I've been out for 10 years. If its a phase, its a helluva long one. And fuck you for askin.
16. If someone saw you walking down the street, would they know right off the bat that you are gay? Pretty much. I get the Hello Lesbo nod all the time.
17. Have you ever been to a rave? No. And what does that have to do with being queer?
18. The BEST part about being gay? The community. Being outside the mainstream. And kissing women.
19. The WORST part? Needing to defend myself against the likes of Bush, Phelps, etc etc.

- Hell yeah!
just a couple short notes for ya today. First off- Frog posted the meme I stole from Cyn the other day. Which means that she's read my blog at least once, so I'm all minorly star struck, what with Frog being one of my favorite feminists in general. How cool is that!
In other news, I got my new Cool Grrrls Kick Ass CDs today. They're sampler CDs with a ton of indie grrl bands that I have never heard of. And they rock. They rock BIG. I think I'm gonna have to revisit the sistersiren playlist so y'all can check em out. As soon as I figure out which are my favorites.
Oh, and a happy late woulda been my five year anniversary to me!

- Wait. What?!?
From Talking Points Memo via Jesus' General:
Tom Coburn, a former member of the House of Representatives from Oklahoma, who is campaigning to become the Republican party's candidate to replace retiring Senator Don Nickles, recently said he supports the death penalty for doctors who perform abortions.
"I favor the death penalty," Coburn told the AP last week, "for abortionists and other people who take life."
Ok, so he's all for taking the life of people that take life. Which makes him a life taker. Which means, by his philisophy, his life should be taken. Right? Da hell? Fundie logic. Gotta love it.

You are the Fool card. The Fool fearlessly begins
the journey into the unknown. To do this, he
does not regard the world he knows as firm and
fixed. He has a seemingly reckless disregard
for obstacles. In the Ryder-Waite deck, he is
seen stepping off a cliff with his gaze on the
sky, and a rainbow is there to catch him. In
order to explore and expand, one must disregard
convention and conformity. Those in the throes
of convention look at the unconventional,
non-conformist personality and think What a
fool. They lack the point of view to understand
The Fool's actions. But The Fool has roots in
tradition as one who is closest to the spirit
world. In many tribal cultures, those born with
strange and unusual character traits were held
in awe. Shamans were people who could see
visions and go on journeys that we now label
hallucinations and schizophrenia. Those with
physical differences had experience and
knowledge that the average person could not
understand. The Fool is God. The number of the
card is zero, which when drawn is a perfect
circle. This circle represents both emptiness
and infinity. The Fool is not shackled by
mountains and valleys or by his physical body.
He does not accept the appearance of cliff and
air as being distinct or real. Image from: Mary
