    We Rock

Last night was the big trivia contest at Images. In case you aren't familiar, some bars have electronic type trivia game thingies, where the questions pop up on a TV screen and you answer by pressing buttons on a little wireless dooflicky. Technical enough for ya? lol Anyways, Images had a contest as one o their Pride festivities, so we all boogied on down there to make the PNK TCO presence felt. All of us being me, Eth, Dr. Mike, Becca, Kevin and Lauren the pierced bi girl. And we so rocked the house yo. I think we won every round of the trivia challenge, thereby amassing quite the collection of cheapo bar prizes. Beer Tshirts and bottle openers and such. Good times.

Of course, we all got waaayyy tipsy cuz well, thats what we do. Eth sang a few songs, including Time Warp, which was freakin hysterical. Becca and I were back up dancers. Yeah, in hindsight, that probably wasn't such a good idea, lol. No doubt I looked a fool. But hey, fuck it. Had a good time.

It has been confirmed that Lauren has a thing for me. Well of course she does. She's bi, lol. I still don't get why the straight/bi girls dig me. The lesbians, not so much, lol. Whats up wit dat? Sooo not going there with Lauren. Um, no. Nope. No thanks.

    Let's Talk About Sex Baby!

Specifically safe sex. More specifically, safe lesbian sex.

I've been out for 10 years. In that time I have heard "Wear a condom" 15 million times. Condoms are given out in almost all the bars, at the gay and lesbian community center, at every gay pride function, etc etc, and on and on. I even keep a box at my house for my boys, should they happen to get lucky at my place. On Memorial Day, I saw my very first dental dam. First EVER. In 10 years. And for the record, I didn't see any gloves.

Now I have heard, as I'm sure you have, that lesbians have a very remote chance of contracting an STD. Thats pretty much what the community says, thats what the doctors say, hell, that's what I used to say. The problem is that there is very little data available. For the most part, we simply don't know the probability of contracting STDs through oral-vaginal, digital-vaginal, or vaginal-vaginal* contact. Never mind transmission rates from the use of sex toys, BDSM practices, etc.

I, personally, have never had safe sex. Well, not with a woman at least. The overwhelming majority of sex that I have had has been with a long term monogamous (or so I thought) partner, and it never really crossed my mind. I thought it was a non-issue. My Gynecologist pretty much confirmed that attitude at my first appointment.

Doc: It says here you had sex with a man. Did he wear a condom?
    Me: Yeah. Why?
Doc: So I know if I need to screen you for STDs.

    Apparently the answer was no.

When the big break up happened, and I had my one-and-only one night stand, I revisited the topic and decided to do some research. What I found tends to freak me out just a bit. While we are at very low risk of contracting HIV through lesbian sex, there are bunches of STDs that can be transmitted woman to woman. Hepatitis, Trichomoniasis and Pubic Lice, among others, have all had documented cases of woman to woman transmission. source One STD (Bacterial Vaginosis) is very common in lesbians, and thought to be easily transmitted WTW. source.

Has all this information made me a safe sex do-be? Probably not. (ya wouldn't eat a Snickers bar still in the wrapper** now would ya? heh) But at least now I know the risks. And I keep a dental dam on my nightstand. Just in case.

    tuesday is chooseday

either leave your answers or a link to your webpage with your responses.

      Would you rather:
    1. all your toenails rot and fall off OR grow a thick, bushy coat of back hair?

    2. I'm thinking toenails. Who needs em anyways?

    3. have the psychic ability to hear other people's thoughts but be unable to turn it off OR the psychic ability to transmit your thoughts to everyone within a mile, but again you can't turn it off?

    4. Either one would suck in a big bad way, but I think I'd rather hear other people's thoughts.

    5. watch richard simmons and susan powter get it on OR oprah and dr. phil?

    6. Ewww!!! EEEWWWW!!!! *shudder* Personally, I'd go for Oprah and Susan, but since that isn't an option, I'll take Susan and Richard. Cuz c'mon, that'd be funny as shit. Sweatin to the oldies indeed!

    7. find a cure for cancer, but be ridiculed for it for 20 years before it was accepted OR find a cure for cancer and be considered a hero for 5 years, only for the public to find out it was a hoax

    8. I'd rather find the cure and be ridiculed.
